Borgo Maragliano
Borgo Maragliano is a family-run winery located in Loazzolo, in the Langa Astigiana, at an altitude of 450 meters, in a unique and enchanting setting, among steep hills, steep slopes, towers, and castles. Its foundation took place in 1988, thanks to the initiative of Carlo Galliano, but its history dates back to 1850, when the ancestor Giovanni Galliano, Marshal of the Carabinieri, bought several hectares of vineyard in the territory of Loazzolo. Today these hectares are cultivated with the varieties of Moscato, Chardonnay, and Pinot Nero, from which high-profile Metodo Classico sparkling wines are produced. In recent years, Riesling has also been planted, proving capable of expressing its rich, elegant, nervous, and hydrocarbon-like soul even in sparkling versions.
The Borgo Maragliano winery owns 41 hectares of vineyards surrounded by woods and consisting of steep sandy and calcareous soils, at an altitude ranging from 290 to 620 meters above sea level. The microclimate is characterized by the ubiquitous presence of woods, by a great biodiversity of fauna and flora and by the mild wind called Marin, which blows mainly on spring days, and by strong temperature excursions. These conditions create the ideal context for the production of grapes for sparkling wine, capable of expressing themselves in terms of freshness and minerality.
The sparkling wines of Borgo Maragliano are now widespread and appreciated, a testament to how the ambitious sparkling wine project carried out by Carlo Galliano, after decades of hard work and effort, has won its challenge, becoming a reference point of the territory. All labels are characterized by a lively minerality and a wide and deep aromatic profile, certainly thanks to the exceptional environmental factors of the territory of Loazzolo, but also to the skillful hand of Carlo Galliano, an authentic winemaker who directs the entire production process, from the vineyard to the winery.
