Bruichladdich is certainly one of the most particular distilleries of the Isle of Islay. Founded in 1881 by Harvey brothers, it is located on the west shore of Islay, in the bay of Loch Indaal, and is the westernmost of the whole of Scotland. From its early days it revealed its pioneering character, already from the materials used for the construction: an experimental cement with beach pebbles and cavity walls.

After some closures and various transfers, in 2001 the distillery had a massive restructuring, including equipment from the Victorian age that still makes it unique in the world. Today all of its production is destined to the creation of Single Malts chill-unfiltered and with no added colors, with use of only Scottish and organic barley, usually indicated on the label, including the name of the fields where it grew up.

Equipped with 4 stills, production is always handcrafted, using the original Victorian era mashtun, one of the few remaining in the world, and 6 washbacks in Oregon pine. The distillery produces three different types of Single Malt: the Bruichaladdich, a non-peated whisky, Port Charlotte, a peated whiskey to 40ppm, and the famous Octomore, a whisky more than 100ppm, generally recognized as the most peated in the world. Islay Single Malt overwhelming and of high quality, for all tastes.
