Cantina del Pino

Cantina del Pino is a winemaking reality deeply rooted in the prestigious area of Barbaresco. A family dedicated to viticulture for a long time, bottlers since 1997, but deeply connected to the vineyard long before. Grandfather Nicola purchased the Ovello vineyards back in 1913, when the noble father of the denomination, Domizio Cavazza, passed away. Today it is Renato Vacca, representative of the fourth generation, who leads the reins of the winery, boasting a solid knowledge of his land, not only confined to the owned vineyards but regarding the entire Barbaresco denomination.

The history of Cantina del Pino intertwines with that of none other than Domizio Cavazza, the one who conceived and made Barbaresco great both within and beyond national borders. Today it counts 7 hectares of property, concentrated mostly in the cru Ovello, in Barbaresco, with some smaller plots on the Albesani and Gallina hills, in the municipality of Neive. Right in Ovello stands a large secular pine from which this winery takes its name. The exposures are always excellent, characterized by good ventilation that gives the fruit finesse, fixing the aromatic fragrance of the fruit. Between the rows, no herbicides have been used for a long time and treatments are always targeted and measured. During vinification, the Langa tradition is respected one hundred percent, with aging strictly in large barrels; the extractions are expertly measured and reveal a quality that is often forgotten: drinkability.

The wines signed by Cantina del Pino elevate the queen grape of the Piedmontese Langhe in a classic manner that is always respectful of the environment. The Nebbiolo is interpreted in different variations depending on their territorial origin: Ovello, Albesani, Gallina, or the Barbaresco that comes from grapes sourced from all the owned vineyards. The millenary tradition of this noble wine from Piemonte is renewed, glass after glass, in the labels of Cantina del Pino.
