Cascina Boschetti

Cascina Boschetti is located near the village of Barolo, right on top of the Boschetti hill from which it takes its name. The estate belongs to the Gomba family, who produce wines tied to the territory and traditions of the Langhe. It is a venture that has retained a typically family-oriented character. It was created by Sergio Gomba, who came from a farming family that owned land in the countryside of Alba. Sergio started working as a truck driver and with his first savings, he bought a farm with vineyards and hazelnut groves in Montelupo Albese. In the early '90s, he learned that a farmhouse was for sale in Barolo. Wasting no time and captivated by the splendid position of the vineyards at the top of the Boschetti hill, he purchased the property.

The estate was in a state of semi-abandonment, the house in ruins, but despite this, in 1991 Sergio Gomba managed to carry out the first harvest, using the only hectare of vineyard in production. Within a few years, the vineyard area expanded to three hectares and then to eleven by 1998. The area soon proved to have agreat potential. The Nebbiolo vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, with a sunny southwest exposure. The climate is mild and breezy, and the soils are composed of calcareous-clay marls from the Tortonian era. The vines range from 10 to 70 years old, are meticulously tended, and produce grapes of excellent quality.

In the early 2000s, the construction of a new winery began, and the company expanded to reach 20 hectares, with an additional 4 hectares in Roero dedicated to the cultivation of Nebbiolo, Arneis, and Barbera. Today, Cascina Boschetti is capable of producing nearly 200,000 bottles a year, about half of which are Barolo, offered in various versions: the classic Barolo Boschetti, Barolo Cascina Boschetti, Barolo Riserva Cascina Boschetti, Barolo Sernie, a selection from the best plots of the estate, and Barolo JlSorj, which comes from a vineyard located at the top of the hill. According to the oldest traditions of the Langhe, Barolo matures in large barrels ofOak. The labels of Cascina Boschetti represent the authentic soul of the territory.
