Casisano
It was in 1902 when Giacomo Tommasi purchased the first parcel of land in Valpolicella Classica, thus laying the foundations for a pioneering and boundless enterprise that spans decades and reaches us today, bringing with it the history, enthusiasm, and vocation of a family particularly rooted in tradition, culture, and winemaking experience. Never betraying the values of trust and quality, Tommasi has been a pioneer in Valpolicella for four generations and since 1997 has been carrying forward the Tommasi Family Estates project, extending its boundaries into the DOC areas of Verona, in Oltrepò Pavese, Montalcino, Maremma Toscana, Manduria, and Basilicata. Among the 599 hectares of land spread across the entire Italian peninsula, the Tenuta Casisano stands out, part of the Tommasi family since 2015. With its 53 hectares in the south-east of Montalcino, the acquisition of this splendid estate is for the Tommasi family the crowning of a visionary winemaking project.
With the idea of allowing each Estate to maintain its own history and winemaking identity, also the Casisano winery - under the guidance of winemaker Emiliano Falsini - keeps its identity and philosophy alive. The vineyards of Casisano, located at higher altitudes and on less rocky and clayey soils, give rise to full-bodied wines characterized by floral notes and red fruits. Harvesting and winemaking take place separately for each parcel: prolonged contact with the skins at controlled temperature and fermentation in stainless steel and truncated-conical wooden tanks favor a slow extraction. The sober use of Slavonian oak barrels for aging imparts expressiveness, elegance, and balance to the wines of Casisano.
The Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino produced by Casisano impress with their structure, elegance, harmony, and finesse. They are wines of impeccable cleanliness and refinement that manage to condense the characteristics of the Montalcino territory and bring them directly into the glass. Wines that are born with the intent to be and become great and among the best!
