Castel del Lupo

Castel del Lupo is an ancient winery in the Oltrepò Pavese, an area particularly suited for viticulture. Its existence is documented in historical cartography as early as 1301, but the winery is believed to date back to Roman times, as evidenced by the recurring toponym "vicus luporum" in ancient documents. In 1974, the winery was purchased by Giovanni Doglio, who boasts over 40 years of experience in the wine sector. Giovanni is joined by two highly regarded enologists, Alberto Marini and Daniele Zangelmi, the young cellar master Paolo Ceserini, and Nicola Olareanu, responsible for vineyard management.

At 300 meters above sea level on a marl-limestone soil, 100 hectares of vineyard are developed. Castel del Lupo has decided to adopt a biological regime, convinced that the quality of the wine produced cannot disregard environmental respect. This also results in meticulous care during all phases of winemaking and aging. The grapes in the winery undergo soft pressing and slow fermentation at controlled temperature.controlled, while the use of sulfites is drastically reduced. In this way, Castel del Lupo is able to bring to light excellent wines, with a strong territorial identity and rich in aromas.
