Château Pichon Longueville

Saint-Julien. The soils are made up of alluvial gravel, deposited over the millennia by the course of the Garonne. They are poor in organic matter and very draining, resting on a subsoil rich in clay, which serves as a natural water reserve for the plants during the driest summer months. The climate is particularly favorable to viticulture. Sunny and very bright, it is influenced by the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the wide estuary of the Gironde, which help to moderate temperatures and ensure good ventilation of the vines.

As is customary in the Médoc area, the vineyards are cultivated with Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (12%), and Petit Verdot (8%). The Cabernets, in fact, express themselves particularly well on the gentle gravel slopes of Pauillac. The vines have an average age of about 35 years and have been planted at high density. Short pruning and low yields favor a highly qualitative production, with grapes that have very rich and concentrated aromas. The management

of the vines is carried out under sustainable agriculture, favoring the use of products permitted by the organic regulations, with the intent to proceed towards a gradual conversion of the estate.of the vines is carried out under sustainable agriculture, favoring the use of products permitted by the organic regulations, with the intent to proceed towards a gradual conversion of the estate.
