Château Quintus is a splendid domaine in Saint-Émilion. It produces excellent wines that are in the tradition of the most important estates in the Bordeaux region. The estate's name goes back to an ancient custom of the Gallo-Roman peoples, who gave birth to the first nucleus of the Saint-Émlion vineyard. Families used to call the fifth son Quintus; Domaine Clarence Dillon wanted to pay homage to the tradition by renaming the property Château Quintus. This is a place rich in historical evidence, formerly the site of a Roman fortification then of a tower built to guard and defend an area that has always been important from a strategic point of view for the intense trade by sea.

The Saint-Émilion area represents a legendary place for all lovers of great wines. Its vocated soils, and a mild and always breezy climate, thanks to the presence of the wide estuary of the Gironde and the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, have for centuries provided an ideal habitat for the cultivation of red grapes, particularly Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is an area of extraordinary beauty and charm, which has been able to preserve the original face of a wonderful vineyard dotted with prestigious Château. Precisely because of these qualities, the area was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 as an authentic example of a historic wine-growing landscape.

Château Quintus produces three different labels: Château Quintus, Le Dragon de Quintus and Saint-Émilion de Quintus, all three made under the supervision and expertise of the Domaine Clarence Dillon team. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc vineyards are kept grassed and are planted at a high density of vines per hectare to ensure low production per plant and high grape quality. Harvests are carried out manually, with selection of the bunches in the vineyards and then on the sorting table. Fermentations are carried out in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with very gentle and delicate extractions. French oak barrels are used for aging, with careful selection of the best woods, so that the wines are perfectly matured, harmonious and balanced.
