Collalto

Collalto represents one of the historic brands of the region of Prosecco Superiore. The winery is located among the beautiful hills of Susegana, just a few kilometers from Conegliano. The origins of the estate are very ancient and have roots in distant times. It all began in 958, when Berengario I, King of Italy, donated the lands of the Montello forest and the Curtis of Lovadina to Rambaldo, ancestor of the Collalto family. Through centuries and generations, the ownership of this area of the Marca Trevigiana has always remained in the hands of the Collalto family, who have managed the lands by enhancing their agricultural production and highlighting, since ancient times, their wine-growing vocation. The vine has always been part of the landscape of the Conegliano hills and remains its undisputed protagonist today.

Since 2007, the Collalto estate has been managed by Isabella Collalto de Croÿ, who continues the ancient family tradition with particular attention to the sustainable cultivation of the vineyard, in order to respect the ecosystem of the territory and with a continuous commitment to quality. The property covers a total area of 164 hectares cultivated with vineyards, within the Prosecco Superiore area. The gentle hills of Conegliano enjoy excellent sunny exposures and a fresh, breezy climate, protected by the Prealpi Venete mountain range from disturbances coming from the north. In these particular conditions, the Glera grape has shown to adapt very well, providing wines suitable for sparkling with the Martinotti or Charmat Method.

The vineyards of the Collalto winery are largely dedicated to the production of a wide range of excellent quality Prosecco Superiore labels. A significant 94 hectares in the Susegana area are cultivated with Glera, the main grape variety of the region. However, there are also other grape varieties, particularly those born from the collaboration with Luigi Manzoni, former Head of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of Conegliano, including: Manzoni Bianco, a cross between Riesling and Pinot Bianco, Manzoni Rosa, a cross between Trebbiano and Traminer, Manzoni Moscato, a cross between Raboso Piave and Moscato d’Amburgo. The Collalto winery is an example of how tradition and innovation can coexist harmoniously, offering wines that tell the story and passion of a family that has been dedicated to viticulture for generations.
