Collecapretta
The Umbrian estate Collecapretta is dedicated to the production of authentic and genuine wines in respect of the cycles and well-being of nature. At the helm of the winery, located in Terzo La Pieve, a fraction of the municipality of Spoleto, is the Mattioli family, which for three generations has nurtured the concept of a comprehensive agricultural farm. Today, it is Vittorio and Anna Mattioli, assisted by their children, who are committed to cereal cultivation, olive growing, and raising poultry, calves, and pigs, as well as viticulture. All activities are carried out excluding the input of external inputs, and the family also sells bulk wine in addition to bottled wine, as per the tradition of the area.
The agricultural reality of Collecapretta encompasses 5 hectares of vineyards, planted on predominantly clayey soils, with plants that reach up to 60 years of age. The plots, located at an altitude between 500 and 600 meters above sea level, are dedicated to the grape varieties Sangiovese, Trebbiano Spoletino, Ciliegiolo, Barbera, Merlot, Malvasia Bianca, and Greco. The viticulture adopted by the Mattioli family is highly sustainable and excludes the use of synthetic chemical products, with agronomic operations carried out following the lunar cycle. The grapes are harvested strictly by hand, and in the winery, the fermentations, which occur spontaneously without temperature control, take place in open conical tanks, glass-cement basins, or stainless steel tanks. In the vitrified cement or steel tanks, the maturation also occurs, and throughout the entire processing, the use of enological aids and additives, including sulfur, is excluded, not added at any stage of the production process. Furthermore, for the clarification of the masses, the estate relies solely on the cold winter temperatures.
The selection of the Collecapretta winery includes white wines, orange wine, rosés, and reds of exceptional expressive purity, capable of reflecting the artisanal philosophy behind them. Among the most representative labels, the Trebbiano Spoletino ‘Terra dei Preti’ should be mentioned, an intriguing macerated white that expresses the bond with the territoryThe Umbrian estate Collecapretta is dedicated to the production of authentic and genuine wines in respect of the cycles and well-being of nature.
