Conti Costanti
The Costanti family has a history that is indissolubly linked to the terroir of Montalcino. Present in these areas since the 1500s, it is with Tito that the Costanti family begins to approach the world of wine: he was indeed one of the creators of the name “Brunello” to indicate the reds he produced in the Ilcinese area, around 1870. The dedication to wine continues with Emilio, an important figure for the commercial development of the products signed by Conti Costanti. Moving to more modern times, in 1983 Andrea, a young producer who combines tradition and innovation, enters the company, always aiming to create authentic, complex, and long-lived wines.
The Conti Costanti winery now extends over about 25 hectares, of which 10 are dedicated to viticulture. The vineyards are located at an altitude ranging from 310 to 440 meters above sea level, and the vines have an average age ranging from 6 to 25 years. The soil is characterized by a biologically poor subsoil, but rich in galestro formed during the Cretaceous period. The climate, given the height of the vines, is characterized by a notable temperature range between day and night, which allows the grapes to enrich themselves with aromas and flavors. Sangiovese is mainly cultivated and raised, but in recent years small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot have also been planted.
In the winery, every phase is followed with the utmost care, dedicating particular attention to the aging processes, diversifying with barrels and barriques of different ages and toasting levels depending on the type of wine that needs to mature.
Conti Costanti is a very targeted reality, dedicating its work to enhancing tradition. The production therefore focuses on four labels, where alongside two expressions of Rosso di Montalcino we find two types of Brunello, a base and a reserve. A range in which vineyards, terroir, and work come together in the aesthetic idea of Andrea Conti, where the wines, fragrant and concrete, tell the story of a territory with great fidelity. Authentic sips, therefore, where the style of Conti Costanti leaves no room for fleeting and passing trends.
