Coppi

The history of the Coppi winery begins in 1882, when it was founded by an unknown Apulian winemaker. Towards the second half of the 1960s, the grandfather winemaker Antonio Coppi began to work there with dedication and passion for the land, its fruits, and its aromas. In '79 he decided to become the owner of this winery and took it over, transforming it into his life’s mission. Antonio's primary goal is to restore importance, luster, and honor to Apulian viticulture, often snubbed and undervalued in the Italian wine scene. Years of intense work, deep commitment, endless hours, and sacrifices driven by pure passion began, to achieve his personal victory, for a far-sighted ideal, when wineries in Apulia could still be counted on one hand.

Coppi is a winery that produces whites and reds in the Gioia del Colle area, with its calcareous and clayey soils located on hillside slopes with excellent exposure. Traditional grape varieties are primarily cultivated, from Aleatico to Primitivo, from Malvasia Nera to Negramaro, passing through white berry grapes like Falanghina, all grown according to the bush training system, which has historically thrived in the area over the centuries. Manual harvesting is immediately followed by a careful selection, which chooses the best berries in optimal health condition. Alcoholic fermentation occurs, for reds, after relatively long periods of maceration, and is carried out exclusively in stainless steel tanks, which preserve the varietal aromas, as does the aging period.

Coppi is currently a certainty in the Italian wine scene and has managed to convey all the rich facets of Apulian soil. The passion and love for the aroma of must and earth have been passed down very naturally over the years to Antonio's children, Lisia, Miriam, and Doni, who have taken the seeds sown by their father and wanted to transform them with masterful technique and wise tenacity. The result is modern labels, straightforward and attentive to express the best of the grape and the reference territory, with a unique personality that is strengthened by the years of experience that have led this winery to be an excellence both in Italy and in the rest of the world.
