Crealto

Crealto is a splendid reality that blends the love for the vineyard and for hospitality. It is located in the wonderful hilly area near Alfiano Natta, in the province of Alessandria. The project was born from the desire of four friends to move from the city to the countryside to completely change their lives and enjoy the relaxing atmospheres of the rural landscape of Monferrato. The underlying idea was to create an estate to produce genuine and straightforward wines and at the same time, to create a hospitality structure for agritourism to showcase the territory. In 2008, Eleonora, together with her husband Luigi, a winemaker, decided to leave Genoa and, along with a couple of chefs, Andrea and Elisa, brought Crealto to life.

The estate has become a sort of buen retiro where one can connect with nature, its rhythms, and savor excellent wines and typical products of the territory. The vineyards are aged between 12 and 50 years and cover a total area of 5 hectares. They are cultivated on the top of a hill, which ensures an excellent sunny exposure and good ventilation. Among the rows, there is space for the typical red grape varieties of the territory, primarily Grignolino followed by Barbera and Nebbiolo. For a philosophical choice of principle, the agronomic management of the vineyard is carried out under certified organic farming, also using some biodynamic practices, without any use of herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides. The maximum commitment, in fact, is aimed at producing healthy and genuine grapes and safeguarding an uncontaminated natural environment.

In the vineyard, the technique of green manuring is used, with crucifers and legumes, in order to stimulate biodiversity and the natural fertility of the soils. Treatments are carried out using only sulfur, copper, natural pyrethrum, and biodynamic preparations. The plants have thus naturally found their perfect vegetative and productive balance, which requires minimal intervention in thinning the clusters, often done before harvest, to select the most beautiful and ripe grapes for vinification. Fermentations take place obviously with the use of only indigenous yeasts and the aging involves a very limited use of wood, to avoid altering the varietal aromas. Throughout the production process, a very low percentage of sulfites is used, and the wine is bottled without clarification and filtration.
