Lefort David

The Domaine of David Lefort is located in Burgundy, in the northern part of the Côte Chalonnaise, south of the famous territory of the Côte de Beaune. At the helm of the Domaine is the young vigneron David Lefort, who after graduating in medicine from the University of Dijon, continued his studies in Paris at the Sorbonne University taking philosophy courses. But at the end of his university studies, the call of family roots prevailed. David decides to take care of the family estate. After obtaining a Master's in Vines and Terroirs in 2007, to complete his training and gain the necessary experience, he worked at Domaine Lorenzon in Mercurey and at Clos de Tart.

The estate extends over the territories of the Appellation of Mercurey and Rully. The original nucleus included the parcels of two prestigious Premier Cru of Mercurey “Les Champs-Martin” and “Clos de l’Évêque”, two hectares of which 1.5 are currently in production. The Domaine then expanded during 2013 and 2014 with the acquisition of some Chardonnay vines in Rully, in the parcels “Chaponnière” and “La Chaume” of about two hectares and one hectare of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the parcel “Cailloux”. Overall, the vines currently in production extend over about 5 hectares, which have been managed from the beginning in organic regime. Certification arrived in 2013 and today in the vineyard the principles of biodynamics are also applied.

The vines are worked with care and artisanal passion, with the utmost respect for the plants, so that they can achieve a natural balance. All harvests are done by hand in small crates, so as to deliver intact and healthy bunches to the winery. The particularly suited soils of the Appellation Mercurey and Rully and the cool and sunny climate allow for perfect ripening of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with grapes rich in scents and aromas. The utmost quality of the grapes is David's primary goal, who in the winery limits himself to guiding the musts towards transformation into wine, without invasive oenological interventions and trying to enhance the personality of the two noble grape varieties of Burgundy and the refined and precise character typical of the Côte Chalonaise region.
