The Denis Montanar winery is located in the village of Borc Dodon, also known as Borgo Dodone, in the small municipality of Villa Vicentina, within the province of Udine. For 4 generations the family has dedicated itself to farming, cultivating soya, barley, wheat and grapes, adopting an eco-sustainable approach with great respect for the environment and the land. Denis started his business in 1989, when he inherited his grandfather's land and rented the surrounding vineyards, inaugurating the company's first harvest. Success grew and in a few years Denis expanded his estate, buying another 2 hectares and planting local vines, reaching a total of 10.5 hectares. In 1995, Denis Montanar and the Borc Dodon project were officially born, while in 1996 the family decided to adopt organic farming and to follow the "Renaissance du Terroir" territorial protocol. In just a few years, the winery gained a reputation for the authenticity and spontaneity of its wines, carving out a place for itself among the most important wine producers in the Friuli region.

Denis Montanar cultivates mainly indigenous vines in lower Friuli, on the western banks of the Isonzo river, closest to its estuary. The Friulano, Refosco, Verduzzo, Sauvignon, Cabernet and Merlot grapes grow on vines of different ages, from the youngest Refosco, which is less than 10 years old, to the oldest Friulano and Merlot, which are over 40 years old. The soil is sandy, composed of a mixture of silt and clay, which gives the wine a typical fresh and mineral note. In order to avoid altering the naturalness and purity of the fruit, any treatment with chemical compounds or synthetic substances is forbidden in the vineyard. In the cellar, the method is the same: vinification takes place spontaneously using indigenous yeasts with maceration of varying lengths in open vats made of fibreglass or wood. Ageing can take place in steel vats for the younger, more light-hearted versions or in wooden barrels for the more intense and structured interpretations in order to round off all the wine's edges. No invasive operations such as filtering or clarification are carried out before bottling.

Montanar wines are characterised by a highly territorial profile of great spontaneity and character. They are artisanal expressions, with a wild and rich style, sometimes even crazy, that reflect the territory from which they are born. The Montanar range offers both fresher and more dynamic versions, aged exclusively in steel, such as the "Sandrigo" Friulano or the young red Merlot, and more robust and full-bodied interpretations, such as "Uis Blancis" and the Verduzzo "Scodavacca". All of them, however, are characterised by a mineral structure and a rustic note that brings us back to the territory of origin.
