Domaine Cauhapé

Domaine Cauhapé is one of the best representatives of the wine landscape of the Juraçon region. Founded in 1975 by Henri Ramonteu, it is located on the hills of Monein, at the foot of the Pyrenees.

The vineyard of Domaine Cauhapé extends over 43 hectares of clay soil with a southeast exposure. Some vines are planted up to 400 meters in altitude. The excellent climate, characterized by mild ocean breezes on one side and harsh mountain cold on the other, helps express the essence of the typical varieties of Juraçon: Gros and Petit Manseng. Vineyard activities are carried out exclusively by hand, and daily observation of nature along with experience guide the choices in the vineyard and agricultural practices, which have long approached a biological philosophy.

By vinifying in oak barrels, Henri Ramonteu produces dry white wines from the Gros Manseng parcels, characterized by freshness and aromatic complexity, while from the Petit Manseng parcels he produces soft white wines that evoke candied fruit and honey. Thewines from Domaine Cauhapé arise from the intertwining of the tradition of the territory, continuous search for perfection and sensitivity of the people and thus they can enchant even the most demanding palates.
