Dagueneau Didier

Didier Dagueneau was a cult winemaker known worldwide: the pioneer who paved the way for modern quality and prestigious winemaking in the Loire Valley. Equipped with a deep and unconventional wine culture, Didier created, starting from his vineyards located in the Pouilly Fumé denomination, expressions of Sauvignon considered among the best in the world. Today his work is carried on with great expertise by his children Louis-Benjamin and Charlotte, heirs of a domaine that has become a monument of French wine.

The Dagueneau domaine consists of a 12-hectare vineyard in the village of Saint Andelain, managed with great care and perfectionism according to the practices developed by Didier: extremely low yields, biodynamic practices, and multiple harvests. The management of the vineyard reflects the spirit of the founder, who loved to repeat: “I strive to care for my vineyard as if it were a work of art”. Once these ideas were considered absurd and Didier was accused of pursuing impossible quality standards, but today, tasting his wines, we can understand how only from a meticulous and artistic sensitivity great wines could be born.

The wines of Dagueneau come from cuvées crafted with great attention and experimental attitudes that include pre-fermentative macerations, alcoholic fermentations in barrique or steel without malolactic fermentation and long rests on the lees. These are wines of great aromatic intensity, which wonderfully balance delicacy, fullness, and complexity: wines of great charm and poignant lyricism, capable of moving, of making the strings of emotion vibrate.
