Domaine de Courbissac

Domaine de Courbissac occupies a prominent place among those young producers who are leading a true wine renaissance in Languedoc. The winery was founded in 2002 by Reinhard Brunding, a successful film producer, and in just a few years, thanks also to the collaboration with talented winemaker Brunnhilde Calux, it has established itself as a reference for quality wines in the south of France.

Domaine de Courbissac is located in the area called Minervois, which also gives its name to the appellation, between the Montagne Noire, the Massif Central, and the Cevennes. The dry and Mediterranean climate, tempered both in summer and winter, the altitude of up to 300 meters, and the very calcareous soil with the presence of rocks and gravel are elements that contribute to the high vocation of the terroir. The vineyards extend over a total of 30 hectares and have been cultivated in biodynamic regime since 2002. Here we find old bush vines that reach 90 years of age. The most cultivated grape varieties are Grenache, Carignan,Syrah and Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Muscat, and Marsanne. In the cellar, the grapes are processed whole, meaning without crushing or destemming, and they ferment with only indigenous yeasts in traditional concrete tanks or oak barrels. The addition of sulfites, only if deemed necessary and in minimal doses, is only allowed during bottling and never during vinification.

The wines of Domaine de Courbissac are authentic and genuine expressions of the terroir, born from biodynamic agriculture and very traditional practices in the cellar. They are full-bodied and fleshy wines, rich in juice and good complexity, with a very Mediterranean and fruity aromatic profile: great excellences of Languedoc.
