Domaine des Lambrays is located in one of the most prestigious areas of the Côte Nuits. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis is located along the route of the legendary Route des Grands Crus, which winds its way through the gentle slopes of the famous Burgundy vineyard. The Morey-Saint-Denis area represents a true transitional area between two other legendary terroirs, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and has always been famous for the excellence of its wines, which were awarded the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1936. Within its municipal territory, there are no less than 20 Climats classified as Premier Cru and 5 Grands Crus: Clos de Tart, Bonnes-Mares, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis and Clos des Lambrays. The terroir is characterised by calcareous soils and enjoys sunny east-facing exposures at an altitude of 220 to 270 metres above sea level.

Clos des Lambrays is one of the oldest crus in the entire Côte d'Or vineyard. These lands are mentioned in the registers of the Abbey of Citeaux as far back as 1365 and were already considered at that time to be among the best suited in the area. The vineyard currently extends over 8.70 hectares. After the confiscation of church property during the French Revolution, it was subdivided into 74 small estates and only towards the end of the 19th century was it reunified. In 1938, the cru became part of Renée Cosson's property, but the real turning point came in 1979, when the estate was bought by Roland de Chambure. Also thanks to the collaboration with oenologist Thierry Brouin, the vines regained their former glory and the wines soon established themselves among the best expressions of this extraordinary terroir of the Côte de Nuits.

The Domaine des Lambrays was purchased in 2014 by the LVMH group, with the intention of enhancing and restoring the estate to its former glory. In addition to the famous Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, the property includes two plots classified as Premier Cru in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis and four vineyards classified as Morey-Saint-Denis Village, all planted with Pinot Noir. There are also two vineyards classified as Premier Cru in Puligny-Montrachet, planted with Chardonnay. The Domaine also owns a small Château with splendid cellars for ageing, built during the 17th century, which is considered one of the most beautiful and characteristic buildings in the entire region.
