Domaine Francois Raveneau
Not many producers manage to evoke true emotions through their wines, seducing mind and senses. Among them, a place of honor undoubtedly belongs to Domaine François Raveneau, an iconic winery in the Chablis area whose bottles are widely considered among the best white wines in the world. The estate was founded in 1948 by François Raveneau, who incorporated some parcels from his wife, belonging to the Dauvissat family, another name strongly renowned in these parts. In the 1960s and 1970s, François, firmly convinced of the untapped potential of the territory, purchased other vineyards, expanding the estate, and in a short time the distinctly superior quality of his Chablis increased his notoriety. Today, at the helm of the Domaine is Jean-Marie Raveneau, son of François, who in 1978, after completing his studies in viticulture, became a permanent part of the winery management, assisted since 1995 by his brother Bernard. The two form a competent and rigorous family team, capable of offer the maximum expression of the Chablis territory.
Domaine François Raveneau consists of 9 hectares of vineyard area, exclusively dedicated to Chardonnay. There are numerous Grand Cru and Premier Cru available to Jean-Marie and Bernard, benefiting from the characteristic "kimmeridge" soils, lands characterized by an abundant presence of pelagic fossils responsible for the extraordinary mineral imprint of the wines, distinctly reminiscent of the sea. To enhance the unique vocation of the vineyards, the agronomic management is highly eco-sustainable, and the winemaking processes are minimalist and never invasive. The alcoholic fermentation is conducted solely by indigenous yeasts in steel tanks, at the end of which the masses are transferred to oak barrels for the complete malolactic fermentation and for aging of over a year.
those of the François Raveneau winery are expressions with infinite and complex facets, endowed with exceptional elegance and class. They are iconic wines and absolutely extraordinary, whichNot many producers manage to evoke true emotions through their wines, seducing mind and senses.
