Domaine l'Anglore
L'Anglore is the creation of Eric Pfifferling, the winemaker native to Tavel, down in the southern part of the Provençal department of Gard. A mechanic by training, then happily a beekeeper by passion: a change that progressively sensitized him to respect for the natural environment, leading to the decision to start a winemaking business of his own. In 2002, he ceased delivering grapes from the family vineyards to the local cooperative and developed the idea of a deeply personal winemaking process that is inextricably linked to the terroir surrounding him: the genius he demonstrates in managing the vines and the cellar quickly leads him to become a jewel of French winemaking tied to a natural philosophy. The Domaine is now run in partnership with his son Thibault.
L'Anglore is an artisanal reality that extends over a total area of about 10 hectares in the southern territory of the Rhône valley, on the western side of the wide bend that the river describes around the area of the village of Tavel, whole clusters, generally through carbonic maceration and fermentations entrusted to indigenous yeasts. The wines are not filtered or racked, with the aim of preserving the intrinsic natural properties intact and they age in steel or used oak tonneaux. Eric Pfifferling has the extraordinary ability to express the full levity of the varietals through true masterpieces.
