Drei Donà

The Drei Donà winery, also known as Tenuta La Palazza, is located on the Romagna hills between the town of Forlì, Castrocaro, and Predappio, an area rich in historical memory and the cradle of Sangiovese from Romagna, near one of the watchtowers that Caterina Sforza placed to defend her territories in 1481. It was Claudio Drei Donà, a lawyer, who had a brilliant intuition about thirty years ago, deciding to transform the family business by replacing the existing orchards with vineyards. Today, in addition to Claudio, it is his son Enrico who manages this beautiful and important Forlì reality, a reference point for quality in the area and beyond. The vineyards are all arranged around the winery in a single body, at not very high altitudes, in a ventilated valley.

Technical craftsmanship of thickness, solid and secure, extreme rigor and soul of the territory can be found in the wines of the Drei Donà family, which year after year confirms its position at the top of Emilia Romagna's viticulture. Of the 23 vital hectares, most is naturally dedicated to Sangiovese from Romagna, whose old plants were the subject of a particular study that then led to their restoration through the replanting of the mass selection of Palazza. The philosophy that has always animated the winery is to produce wines with a clear, elegant, and traditional style, respecting the plant first in the vineyard and then in the winery, producing a wine that is the best possible expression of the terroir. A small mention is also deserved by the breeding-stable present on the estate, which represents the passion that the Drei Donà family has always had for horses; it is from this passion that the names of the wines produced on the estate have also emerged: specifically, Pruno was the racehorse most loved by Enrico. A production, that of Drei Donà, which always presents itself with the highest thickness and great expressiveness and which includes, along with important expressions of Sangiovese, also white wines and classic method sparkling wines.
