El Dorado is an English style rum, reminiscent of the legendary city of gold sought by the Spanish conquistadores, and proudly produced by Demerara Distillers in the Republic of Guyana. Thanks to Christopher Columbus, shortly after the discovery of America, in Guyana started the cultivation of sugar cane, whose refining gives the world the precious distillate. The Demerara area is particularly fertile, as it crossed from one of the longest rivers in the world: the Rio Demerara. On its banks it is in fact cultivated one of the best sugar cane in the world, making the rums produced in this area a separate category in the diverse and complex world of rum.

Despite a tradition of three centuries behind, Demerara Distillers is a relatively young distillery, a fusion of the various distilleries and farms of sugar cane in the area. The different stills (including continuous and discontinuous, we can count 12!) are the original ones used hundreds of years ago from several distilleries and still in perfect working condition. For example, the use of the Double Wooden Pot Still (Versailles) gives a full-bodied character and rich aromas; the Wooden Coffey Still (known as Enmore) guarantees of fruity flavors and rum with medium body; finally, the French Savalle Still (Albion) produces a rum ranging from a light-bodied to a strong one.

The rums produced by these historic distillers are used for the realization of the El Dorado range, which ranges from classic 12 years, the well-known 15 and the noble 21. Its labels portray maritime artwork that also emphasizes the design of the bottle, inspired in fact in the form of the ancient containers used by the old sugar planters in the movements on the Demerara River, centuries ago. The Demerara Distillers also owns the largest stock in the world of rum over 12 years: perhaps it was precisely the legendary City of Gold ... Or perhaps, more simply, are its rums!
