Lustau Emilio
Known worldwide as the producer of one of the best sherries ever, Bodega Lustau was founded in 1896 by a court employee named José Ruiz-Berdejo. In the post-war period, his son-in-law Emilio Lustau Ortega transferred the ownership to Jerez de la Frontera and expanded the winery, inaugurating the exports that would make the bottles bearing his name famous around the world. In the following decades, Emilio Lustau experienced extraordinary success and began to stand out among other wineries in Jerez for the highest quality of sherry and for bottles with attractive and modern designs. Since 1990, Lustau has been part of the Luis Caballero group and since 2000 has owned six beautiful 19th-century buildings in the heart of Jimenez, totaling 20,000 square meters, where the production processes take place. Despite international success and the exponential increase in production volumes, the guiding principles have remained unchanged since 1896: to pursue the highest quality to offer the market the widest and best range of sherry ever.
The two vineyards of Montegilillo and Las Cruces are set in wonderful landscapes rich in sun and rain: the first extends over limestone slopes called ‘albariza’, an ideal territory for the cultivation of Palomino; the second near the coast, on sandy soils, where Muscatel grows. The musts are vinified in large steel containers, then fortified and aged in barrels in 19th-century buildings that look like cathedrals.
The sherry produced expresses the highest quality level, praised by the greatest tasters in the world. In recent years, it has also received numerous awards and top positions in international competitions. For over a century, Bodega Emilio Lustau has offered an exceptionally vast range of sherry, essential for all lovers of great Spanish fortified wine.
