English Harbour

English Harbour is the name of the rums produced at the only distillery on the island of Antigua, the Antigua Distillery, located near the historic port of the English naval base. The distillery was founded by the Portuguese and dates back to 1932, after Portuguese farmers, rebelling against the working conditions imposed by the English in the sugar cane plantations, began to market rum on their own. Even today, the owners of Antigua Distillery, Anthony Bento and his family, are of Portuguese origin.

English Harbour is a molasses rum distilled in a triple continuous column and aged in barrels that previously contained bourbon. The production process is distinguished in four phases: fermentation of 36 hours of a mixture of molasses, water, and yeasts; distillation in a continuous column; aging of the distillate in barrels for a minimum of two years; meticulous blending to achieve the best expression of rum.

The English Harbour rums from Antigua Distillery are soft and pleasant distillates, slightly toasted, which have become the subject of appreciation and awards around the world. These are complex rums rich in aromas, capable of depth and intense expressions without ever being harsh or difficult.
