Erasmo

Erasmo Viña la Reserva de Caliboro is a Chilean winery located in San Javier, south of Maule, in the northern part of the country. Caliboro is a name from pre-Columbian times and the area of the estate occupies an ancient territory, already colonized during the time of the Conquistadores, which is now famous for producing wines of excellent quality, known and appreciated internationally. It is a historic Bodega, built towards the end of the 19th century. The old winery has a structure with three large naves, with ample spaces for winemaking operations, and was used until the 1980s. Even today it represents the heart of the estate.

After many years of abandonment, in 2005 Count Francesco Marone Cinzano wanted to recover the historic winery with an important restoration project and recovery of the old structure, which represents a testament to Chile's rural heritage. The renovation work was completed with the renewal of the winery and the installation of the most modernequipment for winemaking, brought directly from Italy. The bodega today presents itself as a perfect synthesis between memory of the past and innovation, projected towards a future focused on the pursuit of uncompromising quality. The potential of a magnificent terroir marries a deep enological knowledge to give direct voice to the excellences of Chile.

San Javier is located in a very suitable area for grape cultivation, within the Maule Valley, on the gentle slopes of a plateau. The hills are protected from the northern winds and can benefit from the presence of numerous water springs. The bright exposures are caressed by the cool breezes coming from the south, creating a climate similar to the Mediterranean, with good rainfall. Absolutely perfect conditions for viticulture and particularly for red grape varieties. The choice of grape varieties has fallen on international ones, particularly: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Garnacha, Mourvèdre, Carignano, Alicante Bouschet, Barbera, the white Torontel in addition tothe historic grape País, brought to South America by the first Spanish colonizers.
