Face B
The artisanal Domaine Face B is located in Rossiglione, precisely in the Calce area, a territory situated about 200 meters above sea level overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The soul of this productive reality is Séverin Barioz, a young winemaker from Lyon who studied and collected winemaking experiences in Burgundy, driven by passion and always pursuing his dream. Fate brought him to this magnificent area of the Eastern Pyrenees, where Séverin decided to reveal all its multiple facets with sincere and intriguing interpretations.
The Face B winery of Séverin Barioz consists of 4 hectares of vineyards planted on soils mainly composed of schist, marl, and limestone. Macabeu, Muscat Petit Grains, Mourvedre, Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache are the main varieties cultivated by the Domaine. The agronomic management follows the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, with most of the cultivation operations carried out by hand, such as pruning, treatments, and harvesting. The goal is both to elevate the quality of the production by paying the utmost attention and care to the plants and to respect the ecosystem and its delicate balances.production by paying the utmost attention and care to the plants, and to respect the ecosystem and its delicate balances. The same pure and genuine philosophy is pursued in the winery, where fermentations are conducted solely by indigenous yeasts and no enological additives are used, respecting the characteristic expression of the terroir. For aging, different types of wine containers are adopted, such as steel tanks, old barriques, and demi-muids of wood.
The white wines produced by the Face B winery stand out for their ability to combine grace and character, while the reds are characterized by delightful fruity aromas and herbal notes. Regardless of the type examined, the attributes on which Séverin Barioz's production is based are represented by Mediterranean salinity and tantalizing freshness.
