Fattoria Le Terrazze
Fattoria Le Terrazze represents a truly authentic reality of the Marche region, genuinely representative of the Conero area, a wine region that the Terni family has been enhancing for almost 150 years. The winery was founded in 1882 on the gentle and green hills of Numana, just south of the city of Ancona, by the ancestors of Antonio Terni, the current owner who runs the estate with his wife Georgina. For oenological and agronomic consultancy, the Terni family relies on the talent of Federico Curtaz, a renowned oenologist who has had the opportunity to work with wine legends like Angelo Gaja, as well as with wineries such as Les Cretes and Tenuta di Fessina. The aim of the Fattoria has always been to elevate the wine expression of the Riviera del Conero, a name deriving from the Greek "komaros", meaning "strawberry tree", a Mediterranean shrub that the Riviera is particularly rich in. Alongside viticulture, the estate is also dedicated to the production of exquisite oils. The 16 hectares of vineyards owned by Fattoria Le Terrazze are located within thebeautiful Monte Conero Natural Park, caressed by the sea breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea. In this enchanting place, on soils that are partly sandy-limestone and partly clay-limestone, the estate primarily cultivates Montepulciano, a traditional grape variety of the area, along with international varieties such as Syrah, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Fermentations take place in stainless steel tanks while subsequent aging occurs in large barrels or barriques for the more prestigious labels. The most representative wine of the area and the style of Fattoria Le Terrazze is the Conero Rosso Riserva ‘Sassi Neri’, a pure Montepulciano that has been highly acclaimed by national critics for its great typicity and expressive breadth, its name deriving from one of the most beautiful beaches of the Riviera del Conero. The "classic" Rosso Conero, on the other hand, offers a more immediate and easily readable taste of the territory. There are also interpretations with an international style, still a result of the Adriatic Mediterranean nature of theConero.
