Fattoria Mani di Luna
Fattoria Mani di Luna is a young Umbrian winery founded in 2012 from the passion and professionalism of three friends under the sign of imagination, culture, biodynamics, observation, and respect for natural rhythms, in a word of “cosmic craftsmanship,” as the three friends like to say. Rocco Trauzzola is the winemaker, Alessandro De Filippis the sales manager, and Simone Lazzarin the agronomist, who takes care not only of vines but also of olive trees, cherry trees, and fruit trees.
The farm is located at the confluence of the Chiascio River with the Tiber, in a terroir rich in biodiversity, favored by a mild climate and beneficial due to the presence of rivers, woods, and wild cherry trees. In this context, we find the 7 hectares of the Mani di Luna vineyard, rooted in soils rich in sandy silt, clay, and minerals, cultivated in respect of biodynamics, considered as “a starting point to grasp the energetic interactions present in nature between micro and macrocosm in order to be able to support them.” It is the belief of the threefriends that the more the vineyard is united with the cosmic creative energies, the fewer human interventions will be necessary in the winery to produce good wine. In respect of this production philosophy, the grapes are harvested and destemmed by hand, without the use of any machines, and the clusters are crushed by foot in a festive atmosphere, to transmit positive energy to the must. Fermentation occurs with only indigenous yeasts, through the inoculation of a pied de cuve. The doses of sulfites added are minimal and no clarifications or filtrations are carried out, only racking following the lunar calendars.
The wines produced at Fattoria Mani di Luna tend to enhance the tradition of the territory, but the continuous search for quality is conducted with modern sensitivity and great culture. Starting from typical grape varieties, such as Sangiovese, Grechetto, and Trebbiano, splendid, genuine, and very expressive wines are born, capable of surprising with every sip.
