Ferrandes
The Ferrandes winery is a small family-run agricultural reality with organic cultivation of terraced lands on the island of Pantelleria, where the Ferrandes family, of Spanish origin, settled over 600 years ago and has since cultivated capers, olives, and vines. The winery, led by Salvatore and his wife Dominica, is located in the Mueggen basso area and has been created from an ancient family dammuso from the 1600s, renovated according to regulations.
The vineyard extends for a total of 2 hectares on sandy volcanic soils that are battered year-round by a fierce wind, which is why the zibibbo vines are trained as bush vines in a basin and close to the ground. The favorable climate, the fertility of the soils, and the artisanal care in the processing of the grapes allow for the production of top-quality products such as the Passito di Pantelleria Ferrandes, one of the most appreciated in all of Italy.
