Feuduccio
The Il Feuduccio estate in Santa Maria d'Orni is an interesting Abruzzo reality, producing wines capable of directly expressing the best characteristics of an extraordinary territory. The winery is located near Orsogna, in the deep hilly inland situated between the Adriatic coast of Ortona and the Majella massif. The area is part of the Annunziata Territorial Park, which preserves a nature that is still wild and absolutely unspoiled, rich in biodiversity. The climate is influenced by the Mediterranean regime of gentle sea breezes and the cooler continental temperatures typical of the Apennine mountains of Abruzzo. The beautiful sunny exposures and the temperature differences between day and night allow for the maturation of grapes with very intense aromas.
Il Feuduccio was born from the desire of Gaetano Lamaletto and his wife Maria, who, having returned home after a long period of work in Venezuela, decided to realize their dream of creating a farm. Today, at the helm of the estate are their son Camillo and the grandson Gaetano, who oversees all operations from the vineyard to the winery. The vineyard is the center of all activity and is followed with meticulous expertise. The vineyards have been created with a density of 3,630-5,000 vines per hectare. The old pergola systems have been replaced with the spurred cordon, in order to lower yields and improve quality. All harvests are carried out manually, with careful selection of the best bunches.
The grapes are brought to the winery quickly to avoid oxidation and are checked on the sorting line before being sent for vinification. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and aging occurs in steel tanks or oak barrels for the reds. The wines faithfully represent the territory and are made with the main local indigenous grape varieties: Pecorino, Trebbiano abruzzese, Passerina, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The range of labels from Il Feuduccio is divided into three product lines: I Classici Fonte Venna, the Selezioni Feuduccio and the Eccellenze Ursonia and Margae.
