Fontezoppa
Fontezoppa is a winery from the Marche region named after an ancient water source that once existed where the vineyards now stretch. We are in Civitanova Alta, a small village located between the Adriatic Sea and the Monti Azzurri, where tradition and territory blend in a truly fascinating rural setting. Here, the Fontezoppa winery team cultivates various grape varieties typical of the area, creating wines with an interesting profile, born from the fruitful meeting of ancient production techniques and the generosity of the land and climate. In particular, the focus is on Vernaccia Nera, a native grape that is now at the center of rediscovery and experimentation by many other regional wineries, thanks in part to Fontezoppa's work. A solid winery that produces a wide range of products, from whites to reds, including sparkling wines, always ensuring that each sip reflects the beauty of the Marche terroir.
The vineyards of the Fontezoppa winery cover a total area of 35 hectares, divided betweenareas of Civitanova, where we find 15 hectares of vineyards, and Serrapetrona, where the remaining 20 hectares are located. Here, various native and international varieties are cultivated, both white and red, such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet, Lacrima, Maceratino, Incrocio Bruni, Pecorino, and Vernaccia Nera. Among the rows, operations are always carried out with the utmost care, ensuring healthy grapes rich in aromas, ideal for creating incisive and expressive labels. In the winery, the vinification processes are careful and respectful of timing, with aging occurring only in the finest woods, ideal for enriching the olfactory profile of each type without ever altering their original varietal characteristics.
Each harvest, Fontezoppa produces about ten labels, with reds being the most numerous in the range. Wines with personality, where from the more immediate and easy-drinking products, like "Carpignano", we reach the more important bottles, highlighted by "Falcotto", a red from Serrapetrona where theVernaccia takes center stage.
