Conterno Franco

Cascina Sciulun is a building constructed around the mid-1800s in the Bussia district of Monforte d’Alba, always belonging to the Conterno family. A zone among the most interesting, from a viticultural point of view, of all the Langhe, where it was primarily grandfather Piero who dedicated himself to the cultivation of Nebbiolo grapes, followed by his son Giacomo. Today it is Franco who holds the reins of the winery, located within the farmhouse, also assisted by his sons Daniele and Andrea, young men who bring new vital energy thanks to a more modern vision, continuing a bond that, from father to son, unites this family to the green hills of Piemonte.

The Franco Conterno winery spans 18 hectares of vineyard land, located between the municipalities of Monforte, Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Novello, and Madonna di Como. The vineyards, composed mainly of sand, silt, and clay, and situated at an altitude above sea level ranging from 250 to 400 meters, enjoy an excellent exposure to the south and southwest. The cultivation techniques employ a modern approach, in which respect for the environment is the key to obtaining healthy and expressive clusters. The winery follows a philosophy centered on organic farming, a testament to a careful management of the vineyards and natural winemaking processes. In the vineyard herbicides are not used, and phytosanitary treatments are carried out using copper and sulfur. In the winery, great attention is paid to every phase of the production process, particularly to aging, where steel and wood contribute to forming the different souls of the wines produced.

The wines of Franco Conterno are the result of the hard work and dedication that the family, together with the winery team, pours into the rows every day. Red and white wines, with the addition of a rosé, express various denominations of origin among the most characteristic of the entire Piemonte terroir, always in search of elegance and prestige. Labels that reach their qualitative peak in the different expressions of Barolo, where the Riserva “Bussia Munie” and the “Panerole” represent an excellent choice also in light of the favorable quality-price ratio.
