Geoffroy

The Renée Geoffroy house is a small family reality historically linked to the village of Cumières since the 17th century. In 2008, the winemaker Jean Baptiste, son of René, heir to this family tradition and current owner of the house, moved the headquarters to Ay, inaugurating a virtuous path in the search for perfection. The production approach is based on a return to the most virtuous traditions and minimal enological interventions.

The vineyards of the Geoffroy family extend over a total of 14.5 hectares, divided into 35 small plots located mainly in Cumières, but also in Hautvillers, Damery, and Fleury-La-Riviere. The composition of this family heritage includes 40% Pinot Noir, another 40% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. Jean Baptiste, along with other Recoltant Manipulant winemakers, adheres to the Ampelos association, based on the rejection of synthetic chemical products in the vineyard and on organic farming. In line with these premises, in the cellar, fermentations are carried out with only indigenous yeasts and are separated by parcels.indigenous and are separated by parcels. Temperature-controlled steel cuvées are used, as well as wooden barrels of various sizes. Malolactic fermentations are not carried out, and the dosages are fine-tuned after very rigorous blind tastings.

The Champagne Geoffrey is produced with great rigor, in respect of ancient traditions, but is characterized by an elegance and pleasantness that makes it irresistible to drink. Each label is indissolubly linked to the production territory and presents itself as a faithful interpretation of the small pedoclimatic differences that characterize each plot. In this area, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, the Pinots express themselves at their best, offering many nuances and complex, harmonious aromatic palettes that can evoke emotions.
