Cecchetto Giorgio

Giorgio Cecchetto is a winemaker who represents the long tradition of wine in the Piave area. The story of his winery begins in 1986 when, as a young graduate of the Enological School of Conegliano, he decides to invest everything in expanding and enhancing the small family winery, purchasing new lands and putting into practice the oenological skills acquired: “producing and vinifying Raboso as my father taught me was not enough for me.” The success of his work, evidenced by the excellent wines produced, is due precisely to the perfect synthesis between pride for the history and the wine-growing traditions of the territory and modern oenological wisdom that respects the land.

Today, Giorgio Cecchetto's winery spans three territories in the province of Treviso: Tezze di Piave, where the main headquarters is located, Motta di Livenza, and Cornuda. Raboso, Carmenere, and other red grape varieties are cultivated in the plain crossed by the Piave, on gravelly soils of alluvial origin. The lands of Motta di Livenza, where Manzoni Bianco grows, are instead rich in caranto, while Prosecco is produced in Cornuda. Next to the modern facilities, traditional bellussera vineyards coexist, supported by very tall mulberries, as was done in the past. The certification “Sostenibilità viva” guarantees the ethics of the practices adopted in the vineyard and in the winery.

The wines of Giorgio Cecchetto arise from the pride of belonging to a long tradition and from the conviction that, in order to best protect it, great expertise is necessary. Viticulture in the territory is, for Giorgio, a heritage to be preserved and entrusted intact to future generations. To do this, low environmental impact techniques are prioritized, respecting natural resources. Giorgio's figure represents the many generations of winemakers from the Piave of the past but also the future of this unique territory in the world, capable of giving rise to high-quality oenological expression.
