Meletti Cavallari Giorgio

The winery Giorgio Meletti Cavallari takes its name from the owner, a young son of art who grew up among the vineyards of Podere Grattamacco, an important production reality of the Bolgherese. Giorgio, after training at the Agricultural Institute of Siena, decides to gain experience in Italy, in Chianti and in the Lombard Franciacorta, before expanding his horizons overseas, going to work in California. After putting a few years of skills in his bag, Giorgio understands that it is time to take the big step, and decides, in 2002, at the age of 24, to establish his own winery in Castagneto Carducci, in Tuscany, not far from the famous tree-lined avenue of Bolgheri. From the very beginning of planting the first vineyards, Giorgio has clear ideas about what kind of structure to create; functionality and practicality are the cornerstones around which the winery operates, with the intent of creating territorial wines, precise, inspired by respect and protection of the environment.

The vineyards of the winery Giorgio Meletti Cavallari extend over an area of 7 hectares, included within one of the most important DOCs in the entire Italian wine scene, that of Bolgheri. There are two reference parcels, the "Piastraia" and the "Vallone"; while the first is characterized by the presence of skeleton and galestro schists, the second is instead distinguished by a clayey loam terroir.

Among the rows, the white and red grape varieties permitted by the DOC of Bolgheri are cultivated, thus giving voice to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Vermentino, and Viognier. The maximum yield is about 60 quintals per hectare, and the working practices have as their primary objective the respect for the surrounding nature.

Four are the labels that are produced each year by the winery Giorgio Meletti Cavallari, the result of the great bond that is established between each single wine and Giorgio's personality. A special, intrinsic, and visceral relationship, which is also graphically evident on the labels of each bottle, characterized by a symbol that recalls the fingerprints of Giorgio, whose hands have nurtured and worked on every single bunch with love and dedication. The wines of the winery Meletti Cavallari stand out for their pleasantness and charm, and fit into a path from which the value of the tradition of the Bolgheri terroir emerges.
