Haderburg

Haderburg is a major reference point for classic method sparkling wines in Alto Adige, which has become a guarantee of quality for still wines in recent years. It was founded in 1976 by Alois Ochsenreiter, a producer of grapes and apples who became a pioneer of Alto Adige sparkling wine. The purchase of the Hausmannhof estate in 1985 ensured him the opportunity to exploit some of the most suitable vineyards in the region for the production of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, with which to produce excellent sparkling wines. Today Alois manages these estates with the same passion and enthusiasm as at the beginning, helped by his wife Christine and his children Hannes, oenologist, and Erika, agronomist.

The heart of the Haderburg winery is made up of the Hausmannhof estate and the surrounding vineyards: a true monument to sparkling wine that, located in a dreamlike natural setting at 400 meters above sea level on very steep slopes, dominates the Adige valley. Other vineyards are located in the Isarco Valley, between 620 and 700 meters above sea level, in a mountain territory of heroic viticulture. In the vineyard, Alois has embraced, for more than 10 years, the principles of biodynamic agriculture with the idea of maintaining, thanks to the help of biodynamic preparations, a natural balance. A choice made to ensure the high quality of production, far from trends and standardizations: “I don’t need to convince anyone, I do what I believe, others can do their own.” In the winery, the sparkling wines are produced with bottle fermentation, as required by the classic method, and with long aging on the lees, that is, between 24 and 96 months.

The wines and sparkling wines of Haderburg reflect the values of harmony, integrity, transparency, and territoriality on which the work of the Ochsenreiter family has been based for over 40 years. The sparkling wines, characterized by very expressive fruity notes combined with the typical hints of baking from the classic method, stand out for their class and elegance, while the still wines embody the peculiarities of the territory with impeccable grace. The national and international recognitions, the credit and esteem of
