Istinto Sardo

Istinto Sardo is an interesting reality that, from the very choice of its name, indicates the desire to express the truest and most authentic face of the island, its scents, its aromas, and its ancient traditions. It is a brand that tells the story of a land with a strong character, made of granite rocks, olive trees, vineyards, oak forests, and aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub, among which the myrtle stands out as the true emblem of Sardinia. The headquarters is located in Tortolì in the province of Nuoro, in the beautiful region of Ogliastra, at the center of the eastern coast of the island. A beautiful wild land that also includes the unspoiled area of the Gulf of Orosei National Park and Gennargentu and the wonderful coastline of Arbatax.

In this land of ancient traditions, time seems to have stopped and preserved the beauty of a natural landscape characterized by a turquoise and crystalline sea, by rocks shaped by the wind, and by a flora rich in biodiversity. A small jewel that remains tied to the authentic customs farmers: the production of oil, wine, cheese, and the processing of myrtle, a wild plant typical of the Mediterranean scrub, which has found its natural habitat here. The plant, Myrtus communis, belongs to the botanical family Myrtaceae, it is a very dense shrub that can reach a height of two or three meters, with elongated and rather thick leaves. It produces small black berries with dark blue reflections that ripen in the winter months and then remain on the plant for a long time.

It has been natural for those born and raised in the wonderful natural scenery of Ogliastra to dedicate themselves to the most characteristic product of the territory: myrtle liqueur. A true homage to the land, its nature, and its customs. Istinto Sardo wanted to return to the purity of the liqueur, recovering the essential simplicity of the traditional recipe, based on a few natural ingredients and favoring a handcrafted processing process that recalls the homemade preparations of the past. Thus, a label of great charm and excellent quality, which stands out for its refined elegance from the rest of the industrial production.
