Kettmeir
Kettmeir is a winery with a centenary history in Alto Adige, specialized in sparkling wines but also renowned for its interpretations of local grape varieties. It was founded in 1919 by Giuseppe Kettmeier, oenologist and agronomist, in the picturesque area of Caldaro. Starting in the 1960s, it launched a project to revive the Alto Adige sparkling tradition, beginning to produce a cuvée of Pinot Bianco subjected to the long Charmat Method. From the 1990s onwards, the Classic Method was definitively adopted, ensuring a more complex and elegant style that would become the winery's distinctive mark. Today, the ownership is entrusted to the Santa Margherita group, which has ambitiously continued the fascinating challenge of the alpine Classic Method.
The Kettmeir winery is deeply rooted in the Caldaro area and has always relied on the collaboration of about 60 loyal suppliers. These are authentic winemakers who have cultivated their family vineyards for generations, totaling just over 55 hectares. The vineyards rest on the limestone soils of the mountainous slopes of Pochi di Salorno, on the breezy valley of Lake Caldaro and on the cold rocks of Soprabolzano, which can reach 800 meters in altitude. An extraordinary territory that guarantees freshness and elegance to the entire production.
The wines and sparkling wines of Kettmeir are the result of the combination of the fortunate conditions of the territory and the expertise of man. The production methods modern and innovative, recently revitalized with the introduction of technology, are indicative of a commercial emancipation aimed at conquering international markets, focusing entirely on the quality of production. Expressive clarity, a crystalline aromatic spectrum, tension, elegance, minerality, and freshness are the great qualities of all the labels signed Kettmeir.
