La Felce

Embracing a craft and genuine production vision, the Ligurian wine reality La Felce creates expressions of sublime pleasure and sincerity. The origins of the winery, located in Ortonovo, in the province of La Spezia, date back to the post-war period, when Renato Marcesini started a diversified agricultural activity. The turning point in winemaking, a practice the Marcesini family has always dedicated itself to, came in 1998 with Andrea Marcesini, Renato's grandson, who, after completing his agricultural studies, took the reins of the estate, starting to produce and market wines under his own label. In addition to viticulture, Andrea cultivates olive groves, vegetables, and orchards, configuring his reality as a full-fledged agricultural estate.

The La Felce estate has just 6 hectares of vineyards, within which there are also vines that are over 50 years old. Following the principles of organic farming, the estate cultivates predominantly sandy soils with the grape varieties Vermentino, Trebbiano, Malvasia Bianca di Candia non Aromatica, Massaretta, Merlot, Barbera, Canaiolo, and Alicante. In the winery, the use of technology is limited to what is strictly necessary; rather, artisanal practices and techniques are adopted to enhance the truest expression of the territory. In this perspective, fermentations occur spontaneously in stainless steel tanks or concrete vats, accompanied by more or less prolonged skin macerations even for white grapes. Furthermore, throughout the entire production process, the use of additives or enological auxiliaries is excluded, except for minimal doses of sulfites at bottling.

The expressions of Andrea Marcesini from the La Felce winery tell the authentic face of the Ortonovo territory, a territory made of sea, Mediterranean scrub, and peasant culture. Among the most representative wines of the winemaker, we choose the Bianco ‘In Origine 400’, an orange wine made from a blend of Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Malvasia Bianca di Candia non Aromatica from 60-year-old pergola-trained vines.
