La Gironda

In Nizza Monferrato, in the heart of the homonymous denomination in the province of Asti, the wine company La Gironda is dedicated to the production of high-quality territorial wines. The winery was established in 2000, when Agostino Galandrino, after a lifetime spent building winemaking machines, decided to start his own winemaking project, recovering the family tradition that has always been dedicated to viticulture. Today, the management of the estate is in the hands of his daughter Susanna and her husband Alberto Adamo.

The vineyards of La Gironda extend over 10 hectares, cultivated with great environmental sensitivity under certified organic management without the use of synthetic chemicals, minimizing treatments in the vineyard and reducing the use of water and energy resources in the winery. The vineyards are distributed between Nizza Monferrato and Calamandrana, historic plots of the Galandrino family, characterized by steep slopes and significant altitudes. In particular, the soils of the Nizza Monferrato area are made up of clays and sandy marls while those of Calamandrana are made up of fossil Sant'Agata marls. The undisputed king of the estate's vineyard park is Barbera, accompanied by other native varieties such as Moscato Bianco, Brachetto, and Nebbiolo, as well as international varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentations always take place in stainless steel tanks, the same type of containers used for the maturation phase, except for some wines that age in barriques, tonneaux, and large oak barrels. For Moscato d'Asti and Brachetto d'Acqui, the slight sparkling process occurs in an autoclave at low temperature, in order to preserve the irresistible aromatic scents of these wines.

The production of La Gironda offers different interpretations of Barbera, from Nizza to Barbera d'Asti, all characterized by an essential connection to the territory and the grape variety. The rest of the range is also noteworthy, including Moscato d'Asti and Brachetto d'Acqui with their great aromatic pleasantness.
