Le Vigne di San Pietro

Sergio and Franca Nerozzi, together with their son Carlo, are the people who animate the present of the Veneto winery Le Vigne di San Pietro. In love with nature and eager to leave behind the hectic life of the city, Sergio and Franca settled in Sommacampagna in 1980, in the Bardolino production area, in the province of Verona, and purchased a 10-hectare vineyard on the hill of San Pietro, south of Lake Garda. A zone historically suited for viticulture that, in addition to enjoying the daily lake breezes, essential for achieving the perfect ripening of the grapes in the vineyard, is characterized by a morphological composition of the soils, made up of clays and limestone, which give natural freshness and minerality to the final glass.

At Le Vigne di San Pietro, Sergio and Franca, aided by the oenological and agronomic consultancy of their friend Federico Giotto, begin to produce all the typical wines of that highly suited territory: Bardolino, Charetto, and Custoza. The environmental situation is truly ideal for the Garganega grapes,Trebbiano, Trebbianello, Manzoni Bianco, Corvina, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, both for the morainic nature of the soil and for the microclimate favorably influenced by the proximity of the large lake. The winery, managed since 2007 by Carlo, son of Sergio, makes every effort to produce wines that are the highest expression of the terroir, that respect the traditions of the area, without conceding to deviations towards trends and technicalities that could distort the intimate essence of the wine.

Today Carlo, after thirty years of experience in the field, can finally say he is beginning to understand a small part of the infinite nuances that nature is capable of offering. Only from a respectful approach in the vineyard, where the soils are not worked, green manure is practiced, and grass grows freely between the rows where herbicides are not used, can quality be obtained in the glass. These are the principles that underlie the success of the Le Vigne di San Pietro winery, no secrets, just a lot of passion!
