Marie-Noëlle Ledru is unanimously considered the Dame of Pinot Noir for her extraordinary ability to enhance the characteristics that this red grape expresses in the terroir of the legendary Grand Cru of Ambonnay, for centuries considered one of the absolute best in the entire Champagne region. In this area the noble grape variety expresses itself with elegance, power, freshness and minerality, giving the cuvées a unique and unmistakable personality. This is a small family-run Maison, which continues to work according to an ancient savoir-faire handed down from generation to generation with great passion and care.
Marie-Noëlle Ledru owns a small property inherited from her parents, which covers a total area of just over two hectares, divided into several parcels located in the communal territory of Ambonnay and Bouzy. the climate is cool, continental in character with slight oceanic influences, which ensure the right rainfall while avoiding water stress. The soils are mainly composed of limestone and calcareous marls resting on deeper layers with clay components. The vineyards are conducted with extreme care, drawing inspiration from the principles of organic farming and using treatments only when strictly necessary. Production per plant is very low and the grapes are of exceptional quality, a prerequisite for then making great wines.
Harvests take place only when the grapes are fully ripe and by individual parcel. After soft pressing, vinifications also take place on a parcel-by-parcel basis to obtain a wide range of base wines from which to choose when creating the cuvées. The vins clairs are not filtered or cold stabilized to ensure their expressive integrity, and sulfur dioxide is also used in very low dosages. After a long aging on the lattes, dégorgement is carried out à la volée, according to the oldest customs. Maison Marie-Noëlle Ledru's Champagnes are highly appreciated by the most discerning enthusiasts in search of purity, complexity, structure and depth of flavor. A range of labels of absolute quality.
