Les Chais du Vieux Bourg
Les Chais du Vieux Bourg is a family estate located in the heart of the French Jura region, near the Swiss border. It is a rather small territory, extending from Salins-les-Bains to Saint-Amour, with a length of 70 kilometers and a width of 6. The Jura vineyard covers approximately 2,000 hectares and is situated in a beautiful hilly area, rising towards the first foothills of the Jura Massif. Within a few years, their labels became famous and today represent an essential reference point for those who want to know the wines of the region.
The estate is located on particularly prized lands, consisting of marl soils and limestone areas with the presence of marine fossil sediments, of ancient gryphaea oysters. The roots of the vines dig deep into a subsoil rich in essential minerals for good sustenance.of the vine. Inside the domaine, there are many old vines over 50 years old, which produce little grapes but yield wines with intense, complex, and concentrated aromas. This is an invaluable heritage, created through a selection of the best clones of the estate, which also includes some ancient varieties such as Chardonnay a queue rouge, Savagnin jaune, Savagnin noir, and other ancient grapevines yet to be identified through DNA analysis.
The vineyard is the heart of all the activities of Les Chais du Vieux Bourg. The philosophy of the domaine is focused on enhancing the varietal characteristics of high-quality grapes. All work between the rows is done manually with great care and meticulous attention. In the countryside, no herbicides, insecticides, or chemical agents are used, and the aim is to transition in a few years to biodynamic cultivation of all the vineyards. Harvesting takes place at the peak ripeness of the grapes, strictly done by hand with a selection in the vineyard of the best clusters. The winemaking processes are conducted withartisanal care, following each phase with minimal intervention, in order to offer wines authentic and genuine.
