Lis Neris
Lis Neris is a significant winery with a long history, located in a borderland near Gorizia, in the Isonzo valleys, dotted with small ancient villages clustered around the bell tower where time seems to have stood still. Since 1879, the Pecorari family has been passionately present here, dedicated to caring for the beloved vineyards that mark the rhythm of the days and seasons. Today, it is Alvaro Pecorari who manages the business, a passionate producer who took over the family business at 25 to continue the important process of enhancing the territory initiated by his father in the 1970s. His work has been crowned with great international success and today his wines are considered great representatives of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The Lis Neris winery has managed to best express the unique characteristics of the Gorizian terroir, marked by the cold bora wind, by stony soils locally called 'claps', by significant temperature fluctuations and by traditions that continuously draw new vital energy from the cultural melting pot of this borderland. The 74 hectares of vineyard grow in the most suitable part of a small plateau formed by gravels carried down by the melting glaciers. The proximity to the sea and the cool Balkan winds provide the perfect temperature range, essential for producing great white wines. In the areas of Corona and Romans, which are warmer, the red grape vineyards are found. The soil and perfect exposure have allowed Alvaro Pecorari to avoid any weeding and to practice sustainable agriculture.
The wines of Lis Neris come only from the family-owned vineyards and are presented as excellent expressions of the territory, endowed with elegance and finesse but also with concentration and expressiveness. The quality standards are very high across the range and are confirmed year after year as essential benchmarks for enthusiasts of the Friuli wine scene.
