Barile Luigi

Born from a shared dream between two childhood friends, to make the best grappa in the world, the Barile distillery (originally Bor.Bar.) was established in 1976 by the two partners Luigi Barile and Antonio Bormida, who later passed away prematurely. Born poor, a survivor of years of misery, hard work, and political activism, Luigi (Gino to his friends) now successfully runs the small distillery, assisted by his wife Nuccia and guided by the belief that excellence can only arise from sacrifice, hard work, and culture.

The distillery is located in Silvano d'Orba, in the upper Monferrato, in a small 19th-century facility that has been renovated and equipped with two bain-marie stills "in the Piedmontese style", heated by a wood-fired oven in the Genovese ronfò style. Here, the distillation process strictly adheres to traditional procedures, where slowness becomes synonymous with quality. In addition to slow and constant work, the uniqueness of the produced grappas is the result of using only fresh pomace, the discontinuous bain-marie distillation system at low proof, the heating

of heat from the wood-fired oven, maturation in stainless steel tanks for 4 years, and possible aging in barrels for a period ranging from 10 to 37 years. Although grappa is a spirit that can be consumed without aging, Gino subjects all his products to long natural refinements to achieve smoothness, persistence, and digestibility.

Honored with several awards and gaining a growing reputation, Barile grappa represents an important author distillate, the result of hard and patient work, traditional techniques, and an expert and ritual hand that knows the right times and maturations that make grappa a unique and precious product, smooth, rich in aromas and nuances, with unmissable scents.
