Lusenti

Lusenti is a dynamic family-run artisanal reality based in Val Tidone, in Vicobarone di Ziano Piacentino, in the locality of Case Piccioni. The actual company was founded in the 1960s by father Gaetano, who acquired new lands and planted the vineyards. It was grandfather Pietro who bought the first farm intended for the cultivation of table grapes at the dawn of the twentieth century. Lodovica is the youngest of Gaetano's three daughters and, while her sisters pursue other paths, she decides to take care of the vineyards. Her passion for the vineyard and wine was not a bolt from the blue, but a reflection matured over time and inspired primarily by contact with nature: the idea of winemaking as an artistic process was the insight that allowed her to approach the vines with the spirit of understanding them and evaluating their reactions, in order to enjoy the most authentic expression of the fruits.

Lodovica Lusenti works in an area that boasts a centuries-old tradition linked to wine and is characterized by the heights that from the Tidone stream, to the east, they move energetically towards the nearby Lombard border of Oltrepo Pavese, to the west. The vineyards now extend over an area of about 20 hectares, managed together with her husband Giuseppe Ferri, and have very different ages, ranging from 12 to 80 years: they are composed of the indigenous and typical varieties of the Colli Piacentini, such as Malvasia aromatica di Candia, Ortrugo, Barbera, and Croatina, accompanied by the international Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Nero. The altitudes vary between 230 and 250 meters above sea level and the soils have a common composition of clays and silt, with evident calcareous streaks. The agronomic approach has been completely converted to the organic system since 2014: the soil is managed with green manuring and cover cropping between the rows, while no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are used and the use of copper and sulfur as a pest control treatment is increasingly contained.

The Azienda Agricola Lusenti represents a junction that connects traditional productions with the more modern choices
