Montecappone

Montecappone is the winery that the Bomprezzi-Mirizzi family runs in Jesi with passion, enthusiasm, and entrepreneurship. A large and prestigious estate in the Marche region that today encompasses a vineyard heritage of over 50 hectares, where the Verdicchio grape dominates. Moreover, recently, precisely for the fiftieth anniversary of the winery, a second project has been initiated, in which part of the estate is managed by the new generation, led by Gianluca Mirizzi. Different lines and types of Verdicchio, all bottled under the name of Montecappone. On one hand, the more traditional style with organic farming, and on the other hand, the more innovative and experimental style, from vines cultivated according to integrated pest management principles. The story begins in 1957 when Recildo Bomprezzi moved to Rome to open a wine shop. However, the foundation dates back ten years later and only passed into the hands of the Bomprezzi-Mirizzi family in 1997. In just a few years, the winery became a reference point in the area, assuming an increasingly important value, and the wine shop in Rome transformed into a wine bar reserved for Montecappone wines.

Mirizzi's idea is to focus on enhancing the varietal, so the grapes are harvested early and everything is vinified in the absence of oxygen. Verdicchio is certainly the variety most dear to the winery, followed by smaller plots of Sauvignon, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese. The grapes mainly come from Colle Olivio and other areas of the hills of the Castles. The vines, trained with the classic Guyot and spurred cordon system, are rooted in very fertile and fresh soil, of medium texture with a good presence of skeleton. The harvest is strictly manual, and only modern technologies are used in the winery, with small fermentation tanks reserved for each single degree of ripeness of the grape.

The Montecappone wines express all the fruity fragrance of the grape and the freshness of the hills of Jesi's Castles. They are fresh, juicy, and dynamic, impeccable and pure, with excellent cleanliness on the nose and palate. Quality wines, recognized by many industry guides and which confirm themselves every year at the top of regional production.
