Musella

The wine-growing reality of Musella represents a stronghold of biodynamics in Valpolicella, a protagonist of both traditional and modern expressions. The winery was founded in the mid-1990s in San Martino Buon Albergo, on the eastern edge of the city of Verona, by Emilio Pasqua Di Bisceglie, who decided to start his winemaking business in a 16th-century rural courtyard. Emilio is now the supervisor of the estate, assisted by his daughter Maddalena Pasqua Di Bisceglie and Enrico Raber, Maddalena's cousin. The three make up a passionate family team that operates with the utmost respect for nature, with its delicate balances long endangered by man. Musella also offers the opportunity to stay in the attached Relais set amidst the vineyards of Valpolicella.

The 25 hectares of vineyards cultivated by the Musella estate are distributed across three large plots located on three different hills: Monte Drago, Perlar, and Palazzina. On the first hill, the soils are tuffaceous and clayey, while on the Perlar plot, red clay prevails, whereas in Palazzina both tuff and red clay can be found. All the plots benefit from excellent exposure to the west or southwest, and the agronomic management of the estate firmly follows the principles of biodynamics, also boasting Demeter certification. Based on these territorial and cultural parameters, the Pasqua family cultivates local varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, Croatina, and Garganega, in addition to Barbera, Pinot Bianco, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaking approach aims to minimize interventions by embracing practices that respect the character of the territory. According to this philosophy, fermentations are entrusted to indigenous yeasts and take place at low natural temperatures with long macerations for reds. A mix of cement tanks, barriques, tonneaux, and large oak barrels is then adopted as winemaking containers.

This is how the production of the Musella winery is born, consisting of labels that express an indissoluble bond with the territory of Valpolicella, interpreted in its most famous variations, such as Amarone, Valpolicella Superiore, and
