Ojo de Vino

The Ojo de Vino winery is located in Argentina, near Mendoza, in one of the most vocated regions of the country for viticulture. It was founded by Dieter Meier, a world-renowned conceptual artist and musician born in Zurich, but a citizen of the world. His life is an exciting novel. After studying law, he began his career as a professional poker player. In the 1970s, he discovered his calling for music, thus leaving the gaming tables to dedicate himself to electropop. After founding his own music group and numerous collaborations with famous artists, including Talking Heads, he turned to producing musical and artistic videos, later embarking on a career as an actor and writer of essays and literary works.

Towards the end of the 1990s, Didier Meier radically changed his life. After many years spent in the art world, he discovered the primordial charm of Argentina. He immediately fell in love with the vast landscapes and the wild nature of the country. He purchased an ancient estate from the 19th century, Ojo de Agua, that extends over a total area of 2200 hectares in the countryside of Buenos Aires. He later also acquired some vineyards in the Mendoza area, giving life to a large agricultural company. From the very beginning, the entire property has been managed according to the principles of organic farming, with the intention of producing agricultural products, raising livestock, and producing wine in full respect of the environment and untouched nature.

According to this vision, Dieter Meier believes that the vineyard should express itself naturally without external interventions, especially avoiding the use of chemicals, to respect the land and its fruits in their absolute expressive purity. The wines are born from healthy and perfectly ripe grapes. They present a frank and genuine profile, the result of winemaking that is very respectful of the raw material, conducted with great care and delicacy. They are wines that well represent the artistic soul of their creator, who sees wine as an expression of nature, a gift from the plant and not a commercial product comparable to other goods or servicesof industrial society. His wines are the reflection of the splendid terroir of Mendoza, interpreted with a touch of originality that only great artists can give.
